Have you ever walked into a room and wondered if you really belonged there? Maybe it was a new job, leadership meeting, networking event or even a conversation where everyone else seemed more confident than you.
If you have, you're in good company.
This week on Productive Joy, I sat down with author and coach Jen Coken to talk about something that affects more people than we realize: impostor syndrome. One of the biggest takeaways for me wasn't a complicated strategy or a long list of steps, it was one simple question.
Is it true?
Think about how often we believe our thoughts without questioning them, I'm not ready, I don't know enough and someone else would be better, but are those thoughts actually true or have they simply become familiar?
Jen also shared that she believes the goal isn't to become someone different, it's to return to the person you were before fear, comparison, and other people's expectations convinced you otherwise.
I found that incredibly freeing, maybe confidence isn't about becoming louder, it's about becoming more honest.
So this week, I'd love to leave you with three questions, what story am I telling myself? Is it actually true? And what would I do if I stopped believing it?
